The Contribution of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) towards the development of ICT industry is huge to mention. It is the trade body to lead the knowledge-based society especially in IT. The leadership of this association is matters in industry growth. That is why the Election of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is so important for the industry and all are excited about it. The election will take place on December 26, 2021, at the office premises of BASIS.
Candidates are now fully engaged in the campaign. This time, there are several young faces in both the panels in the election. These young people are delivering the message of hope along with the promises about the development of the sector as their Election manifesto. Both panel and individual candidates are intent the benefits of associations members so, they are in attention.
The 2022-23 terms BASIS Executive Council election will be held at BASIS office in Kawran Bazar in the capital. This time the total number of voters is 876 Of these, 654 are general voters, 182 are associates, 37 are affiliates and two are international voters. There are 24 candidates for general membership, two for associate, two for affiliate, and one for international. As there is no other candidate for the international post, Syed M Kamal will be elected unopposed. As a result, the number of contesting candidates in the election is 28 individuals.
The BASIS election is being contested by two panels - Synergy Squad and One Team. Besides there are 8 individual candidates who are going to compete individually in general category. The Synergy Squad is led by Habibullah N Karim. He is the founding member of BASIS. He has served twice before as President of the organization. The slogan of the Synergy Squad under his leadership is 'Members at the center of everything, we roar together'. Another panel, Team One is led by Russel T. Ahmed. Prior to that, he was the Senior Vice President of BASIS. The slogan of this panel is 'Every Member Matters'. Both panels have young entrepreneurs with seniors.
Mr. S. M Kamal, Former President, BASIS is playing the role of this election as Chairman, Election Board where Mr. Rafiqul Islam, Former President, BASIS & Mr. K Atique -e-Rabbani, Former Secretary-General of BASIS, joined with him as Member of Election Board.
