The 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) was held on Thursday, 31st March 2022 at IDEB Bhaban, Kakrail, Dhaka.
BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed presided over the AGM. Former BASIS presidents, former BASIS directors, standing committee members, chairmen and co-chairmen along with BASIS Senior Vice President Samira Zuberi Himika, BASIS Vice President (Admin) Abu Daud Khan, BASIS Vice President (Finance) Fahim Ahmed, BASIS Directors- AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU, Mushfiqur Rahman, Syed Mohammad Kamal, Tanvir Hossain Khan, Md. Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel, Rashad Kabir, and BASIS Executive Director Abu Issa Mohammad Mainuddin were present at the AGM.
At the meeting, the Annual Report of BASIS for the year 2021 along with the Accounts of the Association with the Auditors Report for the fiscal year 2020-2021 were presented and an auditor was appointed to audit the income and expenditure accounts for the fiscal year 2021-22. A significant number of BASIS members present at the meeting participated in the discussion session and voiced their opinions.
BASIS members urged the leaders of BASIS to play an effective role in the development of the information and communication technology sector and create a business-friendly environment for all. In response, BASIS leaders presented their significant accomplishments in the last 3 months. Furthermore, they presented their action plan focusing on seven pillars: make human resources future-proof, develop local industry, develop foreign markets, increase access to capital & fiscal incentives, create a thriving ecosystem for startups, formulate policies to help grow intangible assets and promote the ICT industry. BASIS President hoped that they are close to executing their 100 day plan and sought the spontaneous cooperation of the members in implementing the future action plan successfully.
On the occasion, BASIS President announced that BASIS SoftExpo 2022 is going to be held on 26-29 October 2022. Additionally, he invited all members to attend the Iftar Program of BASIS on 10 April 2022.
To be noted, more than three hundred representatives of BASIS member companies were present at the AGM.
