In order to implement Bangladesh’s first lunar satellite development project, Aspire to Innovate-a2i agrees with Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC to use Walton Television’s cleanroom research lab. For this purpose, thea2i Project Director (Joint Secretary) Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuya and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Deputy Managing Director Nazrul Islam Sarkar signed the contract on behalf of their respective organizations.
Md. Shamsul Arefin, Secretary of information and communication technology Division, was present as the chief guest and Anir Chowdhury, policy advisor of a2i, joined the program as a special guest.
a2i informed the matter in a press release on Tuesday that the MoU was signed at the ICT Tower on Monday. It was informed that among others, a2i Innovation Fund Head Naeem Ashrafi, Lunar Satellite Project Team Leader and Chief Engineer Mr. Zahid Hasan Shovan, Walton TV Deputy Chief Business Officer (DCBO) Abir Ahmed, Research and Innovation Head Mithun Chakraborty and Executive Director Mr. Zahid Hossain along with a2i and Walton officials were present.
ICT Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin as the chief guest at the MoU ceremony said that the moon has some substances which are not enough on earth. The moon’s helium-3 isotope is one of the clean energy sources for Earth. So the moon is our future trade address. If we can enter there earlier, then we can expect a big business from there in the future. Thanks to Walton Television for allowing us to use their Cleanroom Research Lab alongside a2i for such a mission.
Nazrul Islam Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries wished the progress of the project and said that to make this project a success, Walton Television has all kinds of equipment in the production factory and clean room lab cooperation as well as unique technical cooperation will be provided.
Engineer Mostafa Nahid Hossain, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Walton TV, said that the TV manufacturing plant at Walton Headquarters has an ISO class seven dust free cleanroom, international standard research capabilities, state-of-the-art labs and testing facilities through which we are able to collaborate with any other company in this regard. We are very proud to be associated with a2i as a technology partner through Walton TV’s own research capabilities to launch the first indigenously developed satellite into lunar orbit.
a2i Project Director (Joint Secretary) Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiya delivered the closing speech of the program. He said, ‘From the sea to the space, a2i is there to explore. We have started a new phase with this lunar satellite.’
Bangladesh is going to develop a femto-shaped satellite for the first time for NASA’s Glee mission with the joint efforts of Aspire to Innovate-a2i, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University and Walton Television. NASA’s Colorado Space Grand Consortium is conducting an international deep space mission called ‘The Great Lunar Expedition for Everyone’. a2i Innovation Lab is representing Bangladesh in the mission by completing the Artemis Challenge. Bangladesh is about to enter the ‘Lunar Elite Club’ of 30 countries by adding 22 countries and later 8 more countries.
