Central Logistics Tracking Platform (CLTP) is ready to simplify the logistics tracking system to customers and deliver their information to customers through a single platform. The platform has been developed in a joint initiative of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Access to Information (A2I).

A workshop on its use was held in the BASIS meeting room on Wednesday. The workshop was attended by Bangladesh Bank, Ministry of Commerce, National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, National Security Intelligence Directorate, Courier Service Association, e-CAB, various private logistics companies, Information and Communication Technology Department, IT experts and government officials.

In the workshop, the details of CLTP were presented by A2I’s Rural E-Commerce and Head of Commercialization Rezwanul Haque Jami. The experts present in the workshop focused on sending notifications to customers through SMS from the CLTP platform, changing the status of customers after a certain period of receiving notifications, providing tokens based on customer order dates, facilitating tracking of multiple orders, and so on.

Also, it is advised to confirm customer’s order information through OTP. The CLTP platform will be integrated with a Central Complaint Management System (CCMS) so that customers can easily report their complaints.

e-CAB Senior Vice President Md. Sahab Uddin Shipon, e-CAB Smart Logistics Standing Committee Chairman Md. Tajul Islam and others were present.

While speaking as the Chief Guest, Deputy Secretary of the Central Digital Commerce Cell of the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Saeed Ali said, “Digitalization of the logistics sector is an important part of the economic development of the country. Through CLTP, we will be able to make logistics operations more orderly and transparent, which will help in the development of trade and commerce in our country.”

Biplab Ghosh Rahul, Director of BASIS and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of E-Courier, addressed as the moderator. The main objective of this Central Logistics Tracking Platform (CLTP) is to bring discipline in the delivery and payment of the emerging parcel delivery sector and e-commerce sector to implement the ESCROW policy formulated by Bangladesh Bank. Besides, CLTP has been emphasized in the National Digital Commerce Policy 2018 formulated by the Ministry of Commerce and the National Logistics Policy 2024 formulated by the Prime Minister’s Office. All logistics companies (courier services), e-commerce platforms, all payment gateways (PSOs, PSPs, banks etc.) and various government law enforcement and policy making organizations are connected to the CLTP system through API (Application Programming Interface) with the said platform. Once all these connectivity are completed, it will be easier to receive parcels and provide related information at the customer level, similarly policy and law enforcement agencies will have a clear understanding of the sector, which will play a leading role in building Smart Bangladesh.

CLTP is a state-of-the-art platform under the Ministry of Commerce that helps logistics companies manage their cargo operations with greater efficiency and transparency. The Department of Information and Communication Technology, Access to Information (A2I) and Ministry of Commerce provided support in organizing this BASIS workshop.
