The Election Board could not reschedule the election of the fifth biennial executive committee of E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), the national organization of e-commerce traders, due to the ongoing curfew against the violence over quota reforms. For this, another meeting will be held at Banani’s e-CAB office on the afternoon of October 3.

This decision was taken in the first meeting of the polling day which was postponed due to the participation of 24 candidates on the polling day scheduled for July 27. This decision was taken in a meeting held at the e-CAB office chaired by the Election Board Chairman Md. Hafizur Rahman. Two other members of the board: FBCCI Director Syed Md Bakhtiar and BNNRC CEO AHM Bazlur Rahman were present.

Among the candidates, Shomi Kaiser, Shab Uddin Shipon, Ambareen Reza, Sohail Mridha, Abdul Aziz and others spoke.

Regarding the meeting, Md. Hafizur Rahman said, “We have openly discussed the date of the previously postponed election, even though it was scheduled to be held today due to the circumstances.” In the discussion, the candidates have observed the situation more and proposed to select a new date. In view of this, we will meet again next Saturday.

According to sources, the meeting will discuss the scope of election campaigning, discussions with law enforcement agencies and DTO approval to fix the new date.
