Finally, the contractual appointment of two commissioners of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission-BTRC, Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park, Project Director of Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology (SHIFT) and Director General of Science and Technology Museum has been cancelled.

As a result of canceling the contractual appointment of 24 officers by order of the President on Tuesday, they were dismissed before the expiry of their term. According to the letter signed by Deputy Secretary Kaniz Fatema, the two Commissioners of BTRC whose appointments have been canceled are Sheikh Riaz Ahmed of Engineering Division and Md Delwar Hossain of Administration Management Division.

On October 17, 2022, retired Additional Secretary Sheikh Riaz Ahmed was appointed as Commissioner (Engineering) of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) by the Awami League government. On the other hand, Commissioner Md. Delwar Hossain has been accused of misappropriating a huge amount of money in the construction of BTRC building. In addition, a 3-member committee has been formed from the ministry regarding the illegal appointment of commissioner Delwar, who received a notice of termination. The committee has been asked to report within the next 21 days.

Meanwhile, Syed Zahurul Islam, who was appointed as the project manager for the infrastructure construction of the much-discussed Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology (SHIFT) project under construction at Shibchar, Madaripur by the former state minister Palak’s administration.

Also, GSM Zafrullah was appointed on contractual basis as Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority on December 31, 2023. And in April this year, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury became the Director General of the Museum of Science and Technology for the second term.
