Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) has fined Amazon-owned gaming platform Twitch 2 million Turkish lira (approximately $58,000) for a data breach incident, according to state-run Anadolu Agency, as reported by Reuters.

KVKK initiated an investigation following a 125GB data leak and found that Twitch failed to implement adequate security measures beforehand, only addressing vulnerabilities post-incident. The investigation also revealed Twitch’s shortcomings in risk assessment and threat evaluation.

The breach compromised personal data of 35,274 Turkish users. As a result, KVKK imposed fines of 1.75 million lira for security deficiencies and 250,000 lira for failing to report the breach promptly. Twitch has yet to provide a comment on the matter. Source: Reuters
