Nagad, the digital financial transaction service of the Bangladesh Postal Department, has achieved a significant milestone by crossing BDT 2,000 crore in daily transactions for the first time. On Thursday, the company recorded transactions exceeding BDT 2,070 crore in a single day, reaffirming its position as one of the country’s leading mobile financial service providers.
The bulk of the transactions were conducted through cash-in, cash-out, send money, disbursement of government allowances, mobile recharge, and payments. Apart from these, Nagad continues to provide diverse financial transaction solutions to its customers.
Commenting on the milestone, Muhammad Badiuzzaman Didar, the administrator appointed by the Bangladesh Bank to oversee Nagad, said, “We believe this milestone was made possible due to the trust and confidence of the people. As the digital financial service provider of the Bangladesh Postal Department, Nagad is advancing by ensuring greater financial security for its customers through improved services. Every day, customers can seamlessly meet all their transaction needs through Nagad, resulting in a growing number of users joining our platform.”
He further expressed optimism that Nagad would continue to enhance its services with advanced technology in the coming days.
Launched almost six years ago, Nagad now boasts a registered user base of over 95 million. It was the first mobile financial service provider in the country to introduce an electronic customer registration system. This modern and user-friendly account-opening method, coupled with superior customer service, has contributed to the steady growth in users.
Additionally, Nagad’s network of 250,000 agent points across the country serves millions of customers daily, further solidifying its reputation as a trusted financial service provider.
