Adobe has introduced an AI-powered video generation tool called Firefly Video Model, aiming to compete with OpenAI’s Sora and startup Runway, according to a report by Reuters.
The AI model is designed to integrate with Adobe’s Premiere Pro software, assisting filmmakers and television producers in enhancing and refining video content. Unlike other AI tools that focus on generating entirely new footage, Adobe’s model emphasizes improving existing video shots.
Initially, users will be able to create five-second videos at 1080p resolution. While OpenAI’s tool can generate clips up to 20 seconds long, Adobe argues that most cinematic clips typically last around three seconds, making quality the primary focus rather than length.
Adobe is also competing in pricing. Users can generate 20 clips for $9.99, while 70 clips will cost $29.99. In contrast, OpenAI offers 50 videos for $20 and premium high-quality videos for $200.
Additionally, Adobe plans to launch a premium subscription for large studios and production houses, allowing them to generate 4K resolution videos.
Alexandru Costin, Vice President of Adobe’s AI division, stated, “We believe that achieving high-quality motion, composition, and cinematic feel is more important than simply generating long clips.” Source: Reuters
