Tamal Kanti Nandi has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL). Previously, he was engaged in BTCL as Member (Maintenance & Operations). Mr. Tamal Kanti was born on November 11, 1959 in Kanchona village of Satkania upazila, Chittagong. His father was Noni Gopal Nandi and mother was Jotsna Rani Nandi.

He achieved Engineering degree on Electrical and Electronics from BUET in 1982. In the year 1988 on February 15, he got engaged as Assistant Divisional Engineer in (Telecom) cadre in former Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) through 7th BCS. Later, being promoted he also served in different levels of former BTTB/current BTCL as Deputy-Divisional Engineer, Divisional Engineer, Director, Chief Executive and Member with competency and fame.   

During his service period, from BTCL he travelled in different countries including China, Canada and Hong-Kong. In his personal conjugal life, he is the father of a son and a daughter.
