Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) can be used in the general election in a small scale in urban areas if the Representation of People Order (RPO) is amended.

The EC secretary was addressing as a chief guest while inaugurating EVM exhibition fair in Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Chittagong on Saturday noon (October 27).

Helaluddin said voters must be ready to use EVM in polls. It might be frightening to folks as it is a new technology for voting. EVMs are built with the latest technology so that the system can not be rigged from outside. There is no chance to vote without smart card, voter card or voters’ presence.
