Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) blocked 77,590 SIM cards of the state-run mobile operator - Teletalk as those were used in illegal VoIP (voice over internet protocol) business.
On Monday (November 19th), the telecom regulator directed the operator concerned for taking necessary measures to stop the use of illegal VoIP activities.
BTRC Senior Assistant Director Zakir Hossain Khan said the Commission has blocked those Teletalk SIMs which were being used in illegal VOIP through CDR Analyzer and Geo-Location Detection System.
As part of the ongoing operation of BTRC to prevent illegal VoIP call termination, 33,604 Teletalk SIMs were identified for being used in illegal VoIP call termination. Later, BTRC directed to block those SIMs on Monday (Nov 19).
Earlier on October 11, some 44,056 SIMs of Teletalk were blocked for the same reason.
