Nasima Akhter, a self-reliant girl from Tiyashree village of Netrakona changed her destiny by cultivating ginger in sacks with her own initiative in extreme poverty. Nasima had to return to her father’s house in 2017 after getting divorced with three children after eleven years of marriage. She was not that educated. So, she had to depend on her own two hands and determination. She chose farming even being a woman.
When the family went through a severe financial crisis after her husband lost his job during the Covid 19 pandemic. Subarna found no way. Cooking as a hobby was a source of income. Subarna didn’t stop even though she didn’t get any response in the beginning. She stuck to work with indomitable spirit. Today, Subarna’s cake is sold in many confectioneries in Dhaka. Along with this, Mirpur’s daughter Subarna is seen in cooking programs of various TV channels.
It is the story of Mousumi. After high school education, her career was limited to family and rearing children. To build a small identity of her own, she started making and selling Balachao at home. No one encouraged. Rather, the people of her own house criticized her telling, her what the use of higher education she achieve if ultimately, she did business dealing dry-fishes. Moushumi did not stop. Earned the BSTI certificate by fighting. Seasonal Tri Dry Fish has been added to Meena Bazaar’s product list today. Those fishes are also available at chaldal.com. It is exported to two or three countries.
Leaving a corporate job, she started her own venture. In the beginning, the husband was by her side. He always gave courage. Covid-19 snatched her husband away. She started rearing her two children, and started a private enterprise “Tahur”. She did not lose courage. Instead, she changed the face of her enterprise in the last 1 year. Today Tahur is a well-known brand of fashion modest wear in various elite areas of Dhaka. Also, this year Tahur has started traveling beyond the borders of the country to Dubai.

On Friday (March 8) in a ceremony organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day in the capital, the four women activists were awarded medals by the invited guests.
e-Cab Women Forum Chairman Nazneen Nahar conducted the award ceremony and SME Foundation General Manager Farzana Khan was present as the chief guest.
Former Senior Vice President of BASIS Farhana A Rahman, Head of Women Entrepreneurs Backing Department of Eastern Bank, Tanjeri Haque, e-CAB, Joint Editor Nasima Akhter Nisha, Director Syeda Ambareen Reza along with e-CAB Women Forum Co-Chair Zereen Marjan Khan were present as special guests.
Also, e-CAB Vice President Mohammad Sahab Uddin Shipon presided over the event while Farha Mahmud Trina, Focal Point BIDA, and Investment of e-CAB Women Forum.
The e-CAB Women Forum under the slogan “Women in the fullness of life” had an exhibition of entrepreneurs’ products along with other events.
