Digital Bangladesh's slogan shook the whole world from 2009 to 2021. This program has overcome the backwardness of hundreds of years and brought the Bengali nation to the highway of development. People’s lifestyles have changed today as a result of the successful implementation of the digital Bangladesh program of Sheikh Hasina, announced in the election manifesto of Bangladesh Awami League in 2008. The implementation of the Smart Bangladesh program has started on the strong foundation of Digital Bangladesh. In this continuation, we have started the journey to establish Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla by 2041.
The minister expressed this while speaking as the chief guest at the publication festival of poet and essayist Jasim Chowdhury’s 5 books at Bangla Academy Poet Shamsur Rahman Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday evening. Prominent politician, poet, and researcher Nuh-ul-Alam Lenin presided over the event. The Chief Executive Rhymer of Jhumjhumi and essayist Pasha Mostafa Kamal moderated the event and Mani Singh Farhad Memorial Trust President Shekhar Dutta, Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee member Golam Rabbani Chinu, Awami Volunteer League General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu, poet Jharna Rahman, poet and essayist Jasim Chowdhury and Shayla Rahman Tithi, Publisher of Jhumjhumi Prakashan, spoke on the occasion.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications mentioned Bangladesh as an example of the world in digitization and said that Digital Britain in 2009, Digital India in 2014, Digital Maldives in 2015, and Digital Pakistan in 2019 took the program. The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has sown the seeds of Digital Bangladesh and the seeds of Smart Bangladesh through the establishment of Satellite Geocenter in Betbunia on June 14, 1975, membership of ITU and UPU in 1973, nationalization of primary education and expansion of technical education.
His successor, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in 5 years from 1996 to 2001, made computers available to the general public, waived VAT tax on computers, and granted licenses to 4 mobile phone companies, The seeds sown by Bangabandhu were transformed into seedlings in the establishment of Smart Bangladesh by adopting and implementing detailed programs to develop digital technology including internet through V-Sat. In the last fourteen and a half years since 2009, the sapling has been transformed into a huge tree through the Digital Bangladesh program.
Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, the pioneer of digital technology development, referred to Bangabandhu’s second revolution as a groundbreaking program to build Sonar Bangla. He urged the writers to write books on this and said, in the 60s, besides fighting on the streets, I am speaking for the Liberation War through writing. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has established Bangladesh as a prestigious nation in the world as a pillar of development. He urged everyone to work from their respective positions to strengthen the hand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to continue the trend of development
While speaking President Nuh-ul-Alam Lenin said, with the development of information technology, the image of the whole world is changing. Digital Bangladesh is real and visible today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced ‘Smart Bangladesh’ to keep pace with the world when digital Bangladesh is visible.
Shekhar Dutt highlighted his experience about the role of Mr. Mustafa Jabbar and Nuh-ul-Alam-Lelin in the secret office of CRI in Segun Bagicha in preparing the election manifesto and said that as long as Bangladesh exists, the Digital Bangladesh program will remain forever.
Later, the minister participated in the program organized on the occasion of thirty years of the Mass Literacy Campaign at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.
In the event, a detailed documentary of thirty years of the path of mass signature campaign was presented. Organized by Rasheda K Chowdhury, Executive Director of Mass Literacy Campaign, the program took the form of a social fair with the participation of politicians, academics, officials of government and private institutions, eminent journalists, actors, and voice artists.
