The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (#BMCCI) have joined forces to facilitate the export of skilled manpower to Malaysia, a significant labor market for Bangladesh.
The FBCCI President Mr. Mahbubul Alam opined this during a courtesy meeting with a delegation from BMCCI, led by its President, Syed Almas Kabir, on Tuesday, September 19, at the FBCCI Icon in Dhaka.
President Mr. Mahbubul Alam stressed the importance of sending skilled workers abroad while considering the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the specific sectoral demands of Malaysia. He pledged to collaborate closely with the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber to create more employment opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi workers.
Furthermore, the FBCCI President urged BMCCI to take proactive measures to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) from Malaysia into Bangladesh. He extended an invitation to Malaysian investors to explore investment prospects within Bangladesh's 100 economic zones.
In response, BMCCI President Syed Almas Kabir acknowledged Bangladesh's global reputation for providing affordable labor and highlighted the need to showcase Bangladesh's skilled workforce in various sectors, including medicine, engineering, and information and communication technology (ICT). He urged FBCCI to cooperate in exporting skilled manpower to potential destinations, including Malaysia.
Both FBCCI and BMCCI share the belief that Bangladesh's substantial trade deficit can be significantly reduced through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs), and other trade arrangements. Both FBCCI and BMCCI expressed their commitment to collaborate in addressing this issue.
FBCCI Director Hafez Hazi Harun-Or-Rashid (CIP), Mohammad Nizam Uddin, BMCCI Senior Vice President Mr. Sabbir Ahmed Khan, Vice President Mr. Jamilur Rahman, BMCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Motaher Hoshan Khan, Director Mr. Mamunur Rahman and others were present at the meeting.
