Apple Inc. is advancing its focus on AI-driven image creation and editing with the acquisition of popular photo-editing app Pixelmator, according to The Verge.
Through this acquisition, Apple will gain control over Pixelmator Pro, the Pixelmator app for iOS, and the Photomator platform. Recently, Apple introduced a “Clean Up” feature on iOS, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser, suggesting Pixelmator’s technology will be integrated into Apple’s Photos app, analysts speculate.
In a blog post, Pixelmator stated that the acquisition would allow the app to reach a broader audience and make a significant impact on the lives of creative users worldwide.
The deal is still in progress, with further details awaiting regulatory approval. Source: The Verge.
